Responding to the growing discussion, Mercedes-Benz India released an official advisory stating that all petrol BS VI Mercedes-Benz vehicles are fully compatible with E20 fuel.

What Did Sourav Joshi Claim?

According to Sourav Joshi, his Mercedes SUV previously delivered a driving range of approximately 800 kilometres on a full tank. However, after refueling, the estimated driving range reportedly dropped to around 480 kilometres.

He also stated that the vehicle's dashboard displayed fuel efficiency as low as 5 km/l, making him worried about possible long-term effects on the engine.

Joshi suggested that ethanol-blended petrol might be the reason behind the sudden change, although no technical diagnosis confirming the cause has been presented.

E20 fuel is a blend containing 20% ethanol and 80% petrol. The Indian government has been promoting ethanol blending to reduce crude oil imports, improve energy security, lower emissions, and support the agricultural sector.
